1.   Ethan is having a Valentine's Day party at his house. Eric lives seven and five tenths miles from Ethan. Eric rode the bus and only needed to walk three and two tenths miles from the bus stop. Eric's sister went to the party as well, but she walked from their house to Ethan's house. How much further did Eric's sister have to walk because she didn't take the bus?

2.   It's hard to get up early sometimes to go to school, but not when you know you're going to have a party that day! Our school starts at 7:50 a.m. We will begin our Valentine's Day parties at 11:17 a.m. How much time did we have to wait for the party to start from the time school starts?

3.   Amanda made four and two-thirds cups of strawberry punch, nine and one-eighth cups of pink lemonade punch, and seven and two-sevenths cups of ice tea. How much punch did she make in all?

4.   Rachel bought seven packages of cookies for her class. There were sixteen cookies in each package. Each package cost $1.80. Rachel gave the clerk a twenty-dollar bill. There is no sales tax on cookies. How much change did she get?

5.   Dylan bought four boxes of candy hearts for Valentines Day. He spent $1.69 per box of hearts. If he gave the clerk a $20.00 bill and there is no sales tax, how much change should he get back?

6.   Destiny loves to look in her Valentine bag at the end of the school day to see how many Valentine cards she received. She felt kind of bad this year, though. She received thirty-five cards, but only passed out one-fifth that many to her friends. How many cards did Jan pass out?
